Gath Sports is thrilled to introduce its latest innovation: the World’s First Kayak Cross Helmet, a groundbreaking addition to Gath’s esteemed collection and the global market.

Over the past year, Gath Sports has collaborated extensively with Olympic game officials, top professional riders, the Professional Kayak Cross World Tour, and the Australian Olympic Team to craft a safety helmet tailored specifically for this discipline.
The new Kayak Cross Helmet boasts a remarkable 4mm Titanium faceguard meticulously designed to meet athletes’ needs, prioritizing both comfort and safety. Extensive prototyping and testing led to the perfect distance between face and guard, enhancing safety in the event of collisions with rocks and/or other canoes.
Inside, a completely redesigned comfort liner and innovative roller size adjuster ensure a personalized fit for every athlete. Combining the GEDI model’s top-tier impact protection with the cutting-edge titanium faceguard, this helmet guarantees riders unparalleled safety during both training and competition.

Kayak Cross is an exhilarating event unlike any other in canoe slalom. Four athletes launching simultaneously from a ramp above the water, a spectacle in itself. They navigate a course peppered with a maximum of six downstream gates and two upstream gates, engaging in a fierce battle that demands a mindset distinct from traditional kayak singles.
One of the most unique aspects of kayak cross is the mandatory kayak roll. Within a defined section of the course, athletes execute a 360° rotation, submerging their heads underwater—an incredibly technical maneuver offering endless possibilities.
In this event, athletes can touch the gates, but missing even one means disqualification. The competition format adds another layer of excitement, beginning with a time trial to determine heats and brackets. Throughout the preliminary rounds, the top two finishers advance until the final showdown, where medals await the victors.
