Gath Athletes Featured in Surfing Australia’s Cloudbreak High Performance Mission

Surfing Australia’s latest Fiji training mission showcased some of the world’s best surfers—many of them wearing Gath.

Sometimes the best mid-season training involves a last-minute flight to Fiji.

Over the past month, Surfing Australia’s High Performance Program completed two strike missions to the legendary Cloudbreak, giving Australia’s Championship Tour surfers the opportunity to prepare in world-class conditions ahead of the second half of the season.

Led by Surfing Australia High Performance Coach Nathan Hedge, Ethan Ewing, Morgan Cibilic, Molly Picklum and Liam O’Brien arrived to a forecast that delivered exactly what they were hoping for—a high-performance playground of long walls, heavy barrels and powerful reef breaks.

The newly released behind-the-scenes video offers an incredible insight into what elite-level preparation looks like when the world’s best surfers are given perfect waves to sharpen their skills. Long sessions in the lineup, challenging conditions and barrel rides measured in seconds made for an unforgettable week in Fiji, including one incredible tube ride lasting more than 10 seconds.

For Gath Sports, it was fantastic to see so many familiar faces wearing Gath helmets throughout the mission. The trip also came shortly after Morgan Cibilic officially joined the Gath Team, making it exciting to see one of our newest team riders training alongside fellow Australian professionals while trusting Gath protection in some of the world’s most demanding surf.

We’re proud to support athletes who continue to push the limits of performance and safety, and we congratulate Surfing Australia on another outstanding High Performance initiative.

A huge thank you to Surfing Australia, Nathan Hedge, the athletes involved, and the team at Tavarua Island Resortfor making this incredible training opportunity possible.
